Most people who drive LAV's in this game do so with reckless abandon, most have fear of nothing. Nobody fears proximity mines, but they should.
Access to free LAV's mean there is no fear of losing isk. WHile this was recently addressed, people who purchased packs still have access to BPO LAV's, and they rightfully should. So the recent fix was a bandaid that is already peeling off.
The next adjustment sounds like it will be damage dealt to impacted dropsuits. Solid idea, I am looking forward to what they come up with.
The problem has never really been LAV's the problem was LLAV especially the Caldari one. LAV's were easy enough to kill, throw a couple AV gernades and watch the milita go boom you get a kill of a vehicle and a driver if not more, you could even gun them down with enough people or explosive weaponry.
Now for LLAV, each LLAV as you spec into it gets 2% bonus per level that you put into it, up to a 10% bonus either against armor or shields, by this alone, this by itself is not to horrible, however, combined with the fact that you can put on resistance gear on a LLAV that far surpases the LAV's, you can easily get a reistance bonus of 60-70% against any AV device, gernade, swarm launcher etc, it is actually easier to kill the driver then to even honestly damage the vehicle.
For concerns about the "free" vehicles you get with buying packages....yeah they are going to be strong, people paid real money for them starting at around 50 or 90 bucks (along with other gear and stuff but you get the point) I would not expect them to be weak, they paid into the development for the game you enjoy.
In regards to the free militia vehicles, I think people should get 5-10 a week or bi weekly as a gift from CCP, just so people have vehicles that are easy to blow up if they pay no attention to them. They should not have infinite of them, but they should get enough to be able to have some fun. |
